Meet Pam Wenzel
Pam Wenzel, a 19-year breast cancer survivor, loving wife and mother of two, is the author of Spa Water, a guide to creating healthy fruit, herb and floral infused waters at home, and founder of MySpaWater.com.
Pam’s passion for spa water began a few years ago on a weekend golf trip to the beautiful Hyatt Tamaya in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was there, after observing her husband’s frequent trips to the elegant beverage server in the guest lobby, that she realized spa water could not only be the perfect solution to the ever-present challenge of providing her family with a healthier hydration choice, but could also justify the purchase of that gorgeous beverage server that she’d had her eye on.
Through her research associated with the writing of Spa Water, Pam became increasingly aware of the abundant health benefits associated with proper hydration. After much investigation, she discovered how her own limited water consumption, which began as she became “tethered” to her desk when she entered the work force, could have been a significant contributor to her breast cancer diagnosis at age 27.
After reading an alarming study (she coined, “Dehydration Nation”), Pam discovered that about 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated and that this avoidable condition could be a major contributor for up to 90% of chronic diseases. It was this information that prompted Pam to help make a change by inspiring America and beyond to establish a healthy hydration ritual - one sip at-a-time.
Since introducing her Spa Water Collection in 2010, Pam has established a personal mission to educate others on the many key benefits of consistent water consumption. Via her speaking, travels, (like the one she shares below) and Spa Water products, Pam has made it her main goal to encourage others to adopt and maintain a healthy hydration ritual and overcome poor drinking habits and soda/sugary beverage addictions.
Pam grew up in Gig Harbor, Washington and now lives in McKinney, Texas, with her husband, Rusty, and their two children, Palmer and Stevie.
Here, Pam shares a blog from her recent visit to DC ~
I really enjoyed attending CSPI‘s Life’s Sweeter with Fewer Sugary Drinks National Soda Summit, and visiting with other health advocates. We shared lots of great information and ideas on how to move toward improving health by reducing the consumption of sodas and other sugary drinks.
My trip was highlighted by a visit with Congressman Ralph Hall, where I was able to express my goals, to not only bring awareness to the importance of healthy hydration, but to take the steps necessary to provide us all with clean, safe ( fluoride free) and “palatable” water, right from our tap. I had actually met Ralph a few weeks ago back in Texas, where I had provided him the “ Workplace Hydration Manual“. After reviewing the manual, Ralph who already lives a very healthy lifestyle, said I had him hooked on drinking more water. That was great to hear! I leave our nations capital confident that even though addressing our nations health crisis is a big task, water can play a critical role in the solution, and with the right support, it can be done!
Be sure to follow us on facebook and twitter, where we share a variety of hydration facts, tips and spa water recipes, as well as personalized support and encouragement to those who are committed to adopting a healthy hydration ritual.
